Robert Daniel Blackburn Obituary

Obituary of Robert Daniel Blackburn

Born on November 17, 1953

Departed this Life on January 30, 2025

Robert Blackburn, 71, passed away in his home surrounded by loved ones in Landenberg, PA, after a long battle with chronic illness. Danny was a dedicated husband, father, friend, and Pop Pop, with plenty of wisdom and humor that taught or comforted those he loved. He was born to Barbara McMillan and James Roby Blackburn in a family of ten children at Wilmington Hospital in Wilmington, DE. Danny was a self-taught man who founded R.D. Blackburn, Inc., which was a carpentry contractor business. He dedicated much of his life to providing for his family, building something from nothing but the foundation of his devotion in his love for Catherine Blackburn, his wife. They were sweethearts from a young age, blessed enough to have found their soulmates early in life. Danny and Cathy were married June 2nd, 1973, and remained happily married for 51 years. From their love four children were born: Lori, Andrea, Victoria, and Daniel. Their relationship serves as the roots of what has become a strong family tree with many branches and an abundance of love.

Danny had a passion for fishing, reading, and carpentry. He enjoyed reading and teaching himself anything and everything. Danny enjoyed playing poker and drinking Corona with his close friends. He loved visiting his lakefront cabin in Canada with the family, as well as separate fishing trips just for the guys. Countless memories of Canadian adventures will be with us always, from fishing escapades to themed days with games. Danny had a tough exterior that hid a deeply feeling heart, most noticeable when he played with his grandchildren. He was a knife connoisseur, collecting knives and survival gear with pride. He was a very smart man who was profoundly caring and moral. Although he is no longer with us, his words and sayings will forever be in our hearts. He will remain the rock for us that he was in life even with his passing, because we will remember him and his compassion for the rest of our existence.

Danny is survived by his wife, Cathy, and his four children, Lori, Andrea, Victoria, Daniel, as well as many grandchildren that he loved deeply. His grandchildren include Jacob, Zachary, Carly, Keira, Jocelyn, Alyssa, as well as his great grandchild, Karsyn. He is also survived by his brother Steve and sister Jenny Blackburn, as well as three sisters. He leaves behind an incredible legacy in the hearts of the lives he has touched on this Earth.

"Go in peace, you've earned your sleep. Your love in our hearts, we'll eternally keep.”
