Heather Leigh Mock

Funeral services for Heather Leigh Mock will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at LaCamp Church of God with Reverends Shawn Waggoner, Louis Magee, Rick McClain, and Rocky East officiating. The burial will follow in LaCamp Church of God Cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service. Serving as pallbearers will be Robert Mock, Jason Mock, Jeremy Briggs, Mason Monk, Mike Monk, Drew Young, Aaron Young, and Eric Bushnell. Honorary pallbearers will be Ron Roy, Mark Young, Don Grant, Douglas Monk, Brad Hicks, and Richard Stanley.

A visitation will be held at LaCamp Church of God on Sunday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service.

Heather was born March 25, 1975, in Alexandria, Louisiana and passed away at her home in LaCamp, Louisiana on January 29, 2025, at the age of 49. She had a vivacious, bubbly personality that was evident throughout her school years at Airline High School where she was a cheerleader and a devoted choir member. Her passion for cheerleading continued into her college years while she earned two degrees in exercise science and physical education. Heather was beautiful both inside and outside and always tried to help anyone in need. While she was in college, Heather used her dad’s gas card to provide some snacks for her friends. It worked great until her dad found out. This desire to help others included animals, and she would have brought many home if there had been enough room. In her earlier years, she worked at a cardiac rehabilitation center then for a while she worked at Ralph Wilson Elementary in Lake Charles, Louisiana as an elementary physical education teacher. Heather attended Christ Community Church in Lake Charles before moving to LaCamp where she attended LaCamp Church of God. All her life, she felt the support of her immediate and extended family members, and they will miss her greatly.

Heather was preceded in death by father, Robert Dale Mock and husband, Lance Akes.

Those left to cherish her memory are her mother and stepfather, Sharon Rose Monk Mock-Bailey (David) of LaCamp, LA;

daughters, Hannah Leigh Akes of Lake Charles, LA and Skylar Rose McElveen of LaCamp;

brother, Jason Robert Mock (Naomi) of Houston, TX;

sister, Tiffany Mock Briggs (Jeremy) of San Antonio, TX;

stepsister, Connie Craft of Minden, LA;

numerous loving aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and friends;

and Skylar’s father, Richard McElveen.
