Jeanette C. Allen, 84, of Elgin, passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at Ascension St. Joseph Hospital, Elgin. She was born on November 22, 1940, in Bartlett the daughter of John & Myrtle (Ramer) Dorwaldt.

Jeanette was a lifelong resident of Elgin, a graduate of Elgin High School class of 1958 and she attended the First Baptist Church in Elgin. She had been employed as a legal secretary for 50 plus years for Attorneys Ben & Jeff Rifkin. She enjoyed traveling to Hawaii and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandsons.

She is survived by her loving husband Gary to whom she was married on July 1, 1961. Their Sons: Jeff (Rhonda) Allen, and Michael Allen. Grandsons: Jacob & Brandon Allen; and a brother Donald

(Sandy) Dorwaldt and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Brother Carl and a sister Margaret.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at 12:00 Noon in the Laird Funeral Home, Elgin. Burial will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Tuesday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of services in the funeral home.
