Justin D. Pitney Obituary

Justin D. Pitney, 45, of Ellington, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 30, 2025, following a courageous battle with cancer. God provided his grace and mercy to Justin by taking his hand and ending his suffering. He was born in Rockville Hospital on January 17, 1980, the son to Karen (Aberle) and Dennis Pitney.

Justin grew up in Ellington where he spent his entire life. He was a true farm boy at heart. He spent his life working on the family farm, where he was known for his creativeness, quiet kindness, and love for the land. Whether tending to the fields, or helping at the farm stand, he was a familiar and welcoming presence, earning the admiration of customers who always asked about him, drawn to his warm and generous spirit.

Justin had a passion for mechanics, teaching himself the art of fixing cars with a natural talent that impressed everyone who knew him. He found joy in playing video games, listening to music, watching movies, and the exhilarating freedom of riding dirt bikes and quads through the farm fields. He loved pizza, good company, and most of all, his family, whom he cherished deeply, even though he was a man of few words. Though he was quiet, Justin’s generosity and thoughtfulness spoke volumes. He always made sure no one felt left out. His presence was a gift, and his loss leaves an unfillable space in the lives of those who knew him.

In addition to his parents, Karen and Dennis, Justin leaves his sisters, Kelly Pitney, Heather Pitney, Jenny Pitney, Kerri Schneider and her husband Brian; his nephews, Joshua Pitney and Brian Schneider, Jr.; and his niece, Olivia Pitney; as well as his aunts, uncles, and cousins on both sides of the family. Justin was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Henry and Doris (Farrell) Aberle; as well as his paternal grandparents, Harold and Anna (Orlowski) Pitney.

His family would like to offer a special word of thanks to Justin’s CNAs and the nursing staff at Parkway Pavillion in Enfield, CT, for their compassion and care of Justin. The family would also like to thank the Hospice Nurses for their care and compassion during Justin's brief hospice care.

At the request of his family, funeral services will be held privately. Burial will take place in Ellington Center Cemetery. Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, in Vernon, are in care of his arrangements. In lieu of flowers, please kindly send a donation to Become Part of the Solution, c/o Union Church, 3 Elm St., Vernon, CT 06066 or by visiting www.bpsrockville.com.
