Rhonda Searcy Edwards

It is with great sorrow to announce the passing of our beloved mother, Rhonda Searcy Edwards, on January 22,2025 at 80 years of age in Auburn, Alabama.

She will forever be remembered for her unwavering love and devotion of her three children: Dave Edwards Jr, Janie Edwards Mattheis and Ryan (Charity) Edwards plus four precious grandchildren: Madison & Emory Edwards and Vivienne & Sigmund Mattheis who adored their 'Gigi' and finally her three loyal fur babies Apollo, Coco and Jolene who miss her terribly.

She was born and raised in Trussville, Alabama and enjoyed growing up there surrounded by family (and lots of cousins)! Mom remained very close to her brother, David Searcy (Mary Ross) of Hoover, Alabama and looked forward to their daily phone conversations about the news and Auburn University sports. She will return to Trussville to rest in eternity with our father, David Emory Edwards with whom they were married 37 years.

Mom provided us with a loving childhood as a stay-at-home mother and spent her life dedicated to her family. As we got older, she went to work in cosmetics at Parisian, Rich’s and Saks Fifth Avenue in Birmingham. My father’s love of the Old West rubbed off on all of us and she spent a short time living in Wyoming and Montana to be closer to her grandchildren. She moved to Auburn, Alabama in 2015 and became an active Dream Team Member at Church of the Highlands. Mom was the most selfless woman and would give the shirt of her back, even if it meant her going without. Our father used to say she could talk to a brick wall… and he was right because she loved to talk! We will miss her beautiful smile and generous heart.

A celebration of life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in her name to the Care Human Society in Auburn, Alabama. She fostered dozens of puppies over the years in Auburn that brought her so much joy and entertainment.

Mom/Gigi we love you to the moon, the stars and now heaven and back!
