Mark Raymond Williams of Bethesda, Md., age 51, passed away Sunday, November 11, 2018, surrounded by his family at home following a long illness. Mark was born in New Haven, Connecticut, and grew up in Middletown, Connecticut before his family moved to the Washington, D.C. area in 1979. Mark is a graduate of the University of Maryland, and for more than the past 10 years worked as a research associate at the National Institutes of Health, doing cancer research. He also worked as a veterinary assistant in private veterinary practices. Mark was a proud member of the Marine reserves, and did volunteer work with the Boy Scouts of America, where his son, Calvin, was a member. For decades, Mark enjoyed playing softball in the Montgomery County adult league, along with his older brother David. Mark is survived by his wife of 24 years, Vicki Triplett, their children Calvin and Clara, his brother David Williams, and his mother and stepfather, Linda and Jay Siwek, of Silver Spring, Md. He was predeceased by his father, James F. Williams. The family will receive friends at Pumphrey Funeral Home, 7557 Wisconsin Ave., Bethesda, Md. on Sunday, November 18 from 11-2 p.m. There will be a flag ceremony at 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Childrens Inn at NIH http://www.childrensinn.org or Montgomery Hospice http://www.montgomeryhospice.org
