Maximo Garza, Sr., aged 69, of Victoria, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, in Victoria. He was born on October 15, 1955, in Victoria, Texas, to the late Esteban Garza, Sr. and Guadalupe Baladez Garza.
Visitation for family and friends will take place on Friday, January 31, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Grace Funeral Home, located at 2401 Houston Hwy., Victoria, Texas. The funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Grace Funeral Home, with burial to follow at San Jose Cemetery.
Maximo was a Deacon at Templo San Juan 3:16 and was a truck driver and a carpenter.
Maximo Garza, Sr. was a man of remarkable character, cherished as a son, brother, husband, father, uncle, grandfather, and great-grandfather. To those fortunate enough to know him, he was more than family; he was a steadfast source of support, love, and unwavering faith. Maximo exemplified what it meant to care for others, leaving behind a legacy that will resonate for generations. He consistently prioritized the needs of others, always the first to reach out and check in, ensuring that no day passed without expressing his thoughts and care. He prayed for those in distress, not out of obligation, but from a place of deep love. His faith and hope were resolute, and he had a unique ability to find the positive in every circumstance. Maximo was known for his humor and ability to bring joy to any gathering, ensuring that there was never a dull moment in his company. He embodied qualities such as care, passion, loyalty, honesty, forgiveness, strength, optimism, gratitude, and hope. His profound love for others distinguished him and will guide us through our lives. Maximo's life serves as a reminder to live fully, love deeply, and strive to improve the world around us. His legacy will endure eternally. Rest in peace, Max. You are deeply loved, profoundly missed, and forever remembered. We love you!
Maximo is remembered fondly, leaving behind his devoted wife, Sally Ortiz; his daughter, Laura Garza Meza; and his sons, Maximo Garza, Jr. (Cassandra) and Matthew Garza. He is also survived by his siblings, Lorenzo Rodriguez, Trinidad Silva, Alice Villa (Carlos), and Steve "Veve" Garza, Jr. (Susana). His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Suzette Marie Adame (Albert), Gabrielle Lauren Perez (Jose), Maegan Garza, Noah Max Garza, and Madisyn Joy Garza, as well as his great-grandchildren, Savannah Marie Adame and Grace Elizabeth Perez.
Maximo is preceded in death by his parents, Esteban Garza, Sr. and Guadalupe Baladez Garza, and his son-in-law, John Matthew Meza.
