Doris Ann De Beer Obituary

Doris Ann De Beer made her first earthly appearance to her parents, Nick and Clara De Beer, on April 30, 1937 and joined them in their heavenly home on Sunday, November 11, 2018.  Dorie’s earthly journey included Baxter Christian School, Grand Rapids Christian High, and a life-long career at Hekman Furniture, and for the past few years, as a volunteer at Bibles for Missions Thrift Center on 44th Street working in the Book Nook.  Dorie was a prayer warrior for many and had a servant’s heart which she used in various ways throughout the years at her church, First Christian Reformed Church in Grand Rapids—she so loved her church and her Bible Study Group.  She was a treasured sister to Shirley and Harry Vander Brug and Carol and Jim Zuidema.  She was also a prayer warrior and grandma stand-in to her nieces and nephews and their families: Mark Vander Brug, Tim and Marge Vander Brug (Briana and Will); Becki [Vander Brug] and Drew Sweetman (Joshua-Sam and Rory, Anna, Leah, Abby, and Justina); Emilie [Zuidema] and Joe Schelling (Noah, Levi, Simon and Ellie); and Gretchen [Zuidema] and Marc Driesenga (Isaac, Hope, and Geneva).  Please join us as we celebrate Dorie’s life on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 11:00 AM, at First Christian Reformed Church (650 Bates St. SE, GR MI, 49503), with visitation one hour prior to the service from 10-11 AM at the church.  For those who wish, memorial contributions may be given to the Christian Education Fund at First CRC.
