Sharon Ann Schmidt

Sharon Ann Schmidt, 81, of Oconomowoc, WI, formerly of Wales, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 22, 2025.

Born on May 20, 1943, in Milwaukee, Sharon was the daughter of John and Vergien (nee Klein) Roche. She graduated from West Division High School and made a career working in several secretarial positions throughout the years, including U.W. Milwaukee, and concluding her career at the Department of Transportation.

On June 29, 1963, Sharon married Robert Schmidt at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Milwaukee. They raised two children, Michelle and John and shared fifty five years together until Bob’s passing on December 18, 2018.

Sharon had a passion for music and was a gifted performer. She entertained audiences with her jazz performances at local venues, including the Red Mill, the Golden Mast, as well as on cruise ships, and even at Summerfest. A talented musician, she played the ukulele and keyboard, and was well known for her beautiful singing voice. She loved entertaining guests, playing cards, fishing, crafting, and wood carving, specializing in Santa Claus figures. She especially enjoyed the C.O.W. family reunions with her family from California, Ohio, and Wisconsin. But her favorite role was being ‘Gram Gram’ to her three grandchildren: Mackenzie, Jake and Eric.

Sharon is survived by her children, Michelle (John) Miller and John (Lisa) Schmidt; her grandchildren, Mackenzie (Sam) Lee, Jake Miller (Kelly), and Eric Miller (Zoe); and her brother James (Rachel) Roche, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by husband, Bob, her parents, and siblings Tommy Roche, Kathleen Mutter, and Martha Dague.

Sharon will be deeply missed by her beloved dog Murphy; the many friends she made at the Towner Crest Senior Community, her Curves group, and those who knew her through her musical endeavors.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 8, at Fete in Wales; 500 E. Summit Avenue. We will have refreshments, food and Sharon’s favorite music from 3 o’clock to 5 o’clock. Memories of Sharon shared by family and friends to follow. Arrangements are being handled by Church and Chapel Funeral Home in Brookfield. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to a charity of your choice.
