Glenn Doyle McMath died peacefully on Jan 15, 2025, with his wife and daughter by his side, after courageously battling pancreatic cancer for 19 months.  A sixth generation Oregonian, he was born in Portland to George Albert McMath and Nannette Silverthorne McMath on December 2, 1961.

He attended Chapman Grade School, Lincoln High School and graduated from the University of Oregon in 1984 with a B.A. in Finance. He successfully worked in medical products and equipment sales for 30 years, before becoming a Real Estate Broker in 2017.  He married Dickey Beatty in August 1990. Both huge animal lovers, they moved in with six cats combined, making for a lively start to the marriage. For 34 years every wedding anniversary was celebrated with good friends, Walter and Karen Gay, whom they met on their honeymoon flight to Hawaii.  Some found it odd, but the two couples loved the tradition. In 1997, daughter Lucy was born, and his life was never the same. He was an adoring father who loved her with all his heart. Their adventures were numerous and never lacking laughter and fun.

Growing up he spent summers at Gearhart with his parents and two older sisters. He was excellent at razor clamming and spent long hours on the beach, filling his pockets to the brim. Being a resourceful youth, Glenn signed up for the Meadows ski bus and on weekends could be seen trudging down Westover in his boots, skis on his shoulder and lunch in his hand. The family also spent one summer in Eagle, Alaska where they lived in a one room cabin with no running water and three teenagers.  His father George was a well-known historical architect who had been contracted to do work there. Glenn told endless stories about fishing and exploring with Kila, a Husky pup the family adopted and brought back to Oregon.

Glenn lived a full life and did not let cancer define him. He was an outdoor enthusiast who excelled at windsurfing, skiing, fly fishing, golf and hiking when coerced. Glenn was also an avid Duck Football fan and was well known for some of the best tailgate Bar- B- Q around.

 He was extremely fortunate to travel with friends and family to fish in remote areas- Argentina, Chile, Bahamas, Christmas Island/Kiritimati, Alaska and of course "the lake" located on family-owned Moccasin Lake Ranch in the Methow Valley. He and his wife Dickey and in later years, daughter Lucy, traveled (not fishing) to Europe numerous times. They enjoyed the change of pace, exploring the sites, learning about the culture, and eating the amazing foods.

In 1996 he joined the Multnomah Athletic Club where he could be found most afternoons with his Stand 2 group working out or enjoying a well-deserved beer. The MAC was a place he loved and over the years made some amazing new friends.

After many years in the corporate world, Glenn decided to take on a new challenge at age 54.  He became a real estate broker in 60 days and had many great years working with Windemere. He met wonderful people, some buyers, some sellers, and many colleagues in the industry. He loved having "his own thing" at which to work hard.

 He also became actively involved in Lincoln HS Alumni Association (LHSAA) and was the President for the past several years prior to his death. He enjoyed the board members and truly considered them all family. In his memory, LHSAA is creating a new scholarship to honor a senior student who has shown exceptional service to the LHS community and the promise of future leadership roles in life. An amazing tribute!

Glenn was a smart, kind human being who felt things deeply. He was an excellent listener but also an advisor. He was not afraid to speak his mind, but he also was strong enough to admit when he was wrong. He will live in our hearts forever.

Preceded in death by his parents George and Nannette McMath, father-in-law Henry “Mac” Beatty, Jr.  and Uncle Charles Carlbom. He is survived by his wife Dickey, daughter Lucy, sisters Lisa Holzgang (Mike) and Terry McMath, nieces Amanda Holzgang Bowers (Alex) son Arlo, Emily Holzgang and daughter Mollie, Aunt Sue Carlbom, and numerous cousins on both sides. His mother-in-law Greata Beatty, brother-in-law, Ross Beatty (Teri), nieces Alex Beatty, Darby Guinn (Avery), Katy Knighton (Andrew) and son Cameron, and nephew Ben Beatty (Cosmin Bisorca).

A Celebration of Glenn's Life will be held at the Multnomah Athletic Club in Portland, OR on Sunday March 23, 2025, from 2:30 -5:00pm.  In lieu of flowers (if inclined) please donate to Lincoln HS Alumni Association- lincolnalum.org or the Oregon Humane Society.
