Born on July 29, 1930, in Crockett, Texas, to the late Virgil and Jessie (Hallmark) Gillie, Virgie was a beacon of wisdom, strength, and selflessness throughout her life.
Virgie's early years in Crockett laid the foundation for a life filled with love, resilience, and dedication. As she grew, so did her remarkable character, becoming a woman whose presence was both comforting and formidable. She married the love of her life, L.C. Walker Jr., who preceded her in death, and together they raised a family that would be her greatest legacy.
Her children, David Lawrence Walker, Jo-Ellen Allen, and the late Mary Katherine Prock, Larry Douglas Walker, Michael W. Walker Sr., and John Walker Sr., were the center of her world. Virgie was a proud grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, leaving behind a lineage that will cherish her memory and continue her heritage of fortitude and devotion. Her brother, Roy Gillie, will remember her fondly, as will the memories of her late siblings, Bertha Wagner, Pat Whiteside, Freeland Gillie, Lew Gene Gillie, and Robert Gillie.

Her family welcomes friends to join them for services, beginning with visitation on Tuesday, February 4th, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Carter-Conley Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, February 5th, 2025 in the chapel of Carter-Conley Funeral Home, with a graveside service to follow at 2:30 PM where she will be laid to rest with her family at Kitchen Cemetery in Zavalla, Texas under the direction of Carter-Conley Funeral Home.
