Loretta M. Kujawa, age 54, of Schererville passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2025. She is survived by her 2 sisters, Rose Minter and Colleen Kujawa, and 2 nephews, Matthew and Jesse Minter. She was preceded in death by her father, Frederick, and mother Monica.

Friends may meet with the family on Monday, February 3, 2025, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Burdan Funeral Home, 12901 Wicker Ave. (corner of U.S. 41 and 129th Ave.), Cedar Lake. A private burial will take place the following morning.

Loretta was born in Crown Point, grew up in Cedar Lake and attended Cedar Lake schools, graduating at the top of her class at Hanover. She earned her bachelor's in management at Purdue University Northwest and her master's in economics at Roosevelt University.

She distinguished herself as a financial analyst at the Federal Reserve and Wells Fargo.

Loretta was a committed Catholic who attended Our Lady of Grace in Highland. She lived her faith through kindness and charity, volunteering through her workplace and donating coats, gifts and food to those less fortunate.

She was a faithful fan of the Purdue Boilermakers. At football games, she'd shake her keys with the crowd on third downs and kickoffs. She fed her wanderlust by going to Michigan (that Mackinac Island fudge), Lake Geneva and the Dells, and she finally made it to Niagara Falls in 2023. She and her sister Colleen enjoyed hiking together, including at Miller Woods, where they ended up on a trail that never seemed to end.

Loretta loved wildlife, especially the ducks at her town home complex. Watching their daily shenanigans gave her great joy. And she loved her family. Her sisters will miss her dearly, as will her extended family and friends.
