Janice J. Painter Obituary

Janice J. “Jan” (Thomas) Painter, 74, of Latrobe, passed away on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital.

Born May 13, 1950, in Johnstown, she was the daughter of the late Eugene E. Thomas and Margaret I. (Daugherty) Thomas.

Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a District Manager for Morgan Foods and continued working in the food service industry. She enjoyed crocheting and gifting her creations to family and friends and excelled at cooking and baking. Jan loved animals, not only her pets but also the rabbits, squirrels, and hummingbirds in her backyard. Most especially, she loved spoiling her grandchildren and justifying it as “It’s a Nana thing.”

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry E. Painter III; two brothers, Samuel Earl and Steven Thomas; and her beloved cat, Boo Boo.

Jan is survived by one son, Bob Painter (Cindy) of Ligonier; one daughter, Connie Ruffner (Brian) of Greensburg; five grandchildren, Nikki Ruffner, Kimmey Kemerer (Mike), Chase Ruffner (Rachael), Alex Painter, and Abby Painter; two great-grandchildren, C.J. and Carson Ruffner; one sister, Pam McKay (Mike) of Memphis, TN; one brother, Duane Thomas; and her beloved cat, Milton.

At her request, there will be no public visitations or services. Private interment will be at Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pleasant Unity Volunteer Fire Department. Arrangements are being handled by the Lopatich-Brinker Funeral Home, LLC, 601 Weldon Street, Latrobe.
