Michael Clancy, age 84, of Rochester, NY, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2025 after a life filled with love, dedication, and accomplishment. He was born on April 9, 1940, in Cooperstown, NY, and spent his life surrounded by family and friends who loved him deeply.
Michael is survived by his devoted wife, Beverly; children Joseph (Tobie) and Stephanie (Peter); and his cherished grandchildren Madison, Cameron, Sophia, Carson, and Colin. Along with many nieces and nephews. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather whose kindness and generosity left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Michael graduated from Le Moyne College, where he made lifelong friends and laid the foundation for a bright future. While at Le Moyne, Michael met the love of his life, Beverly. The two shared a deep bond and were married for 52 years, raising a family and creating cherished memories together.
A proud U.S. Army veteran, Michael served in Berlin during a pivotal time in history. As part of his service, he was entrusted with the solemn responsibility of guarding war criminals, a duty that shaped his sense of honor and commitment. His time in the military left a lasting impact on him, and he carried the values of service and sacrifice throughout his life.
Michael’s devotion to his family was evident in every aspect of his life. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, always prioritizing the well-being of his loved ones. Michael was a passionate football fan, especially of the Buffalo Bills, and his love for the game was one of the many things that brought him joy.
Professionally, Michael worked as a Compliance Officer at Chase Bank for many years, where his attention to detail, dedication, and strong work ethic earned him the respect of colleagues and clients alike. He was proud of the role he played in ensuring the integrity of the financial system and was known for his calm, thoughtful approach to problem-solving. Michael’s life was marked by his strong work ethic, unwavering devotion to his family, and his warm heart. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, generosity, and the many happy memories he created with those he loved.
Outside of his professional life, Michael was deeply committed to his faith. He served as a Eucharistic Minister at Holy Trinity Church, where his devotion to God and the community was felt by all who knew him. His commitment to service was an inspiration to others, and he was a cherished member of his church family.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, February 1st, at Holy Trinity Church, 1460 Ridge Rd., Webster. Interment will follow at White Haven Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the University of Rochester Strong Memorial Sussman Palliative Care Unit, a wonderful organization that provided compassionate care to Michael and his family during his final days.
Michael will be greatly missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
