John B. Hopkins

John B. Hopkins, 78, passed away November 11, 2015, in Reading Hospital.<br><br>He is survived by his wife, B. Joan (Lucas) Hopkins.<br><br>Born in New Brighton, Pa, John was the son of the late John R. and Madeline (Eberle) Hopkins.<br><br>He was predeceased by his brother, Roger Jay Hopkins.<br><br>He earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Ursinus College.<br><br>John was a member of St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, Sinking Spring.<br><br>He had been a Captain in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard.<br><br>John worked as a professional land surveyor for several professional engineering firms throughout his 50 year career.<br><br>John loved spending time with his wife at the beach.<br><br>He will be fondly missed by his beloved dog, Chip.<br><br>John considered his four boys to be his greatest accomplishment in life.<br><br>In addition to his wife, John is survived by his four sons: John E. Hopkins, husband of Lena, Sinking Spring; Jeffrey B. Hopkins, husband of Lisa, Harrisburg; James K. Hopkins, husband of Heather, Garnet Valley; and Joel C. Hopkins, husband of Stephanie, Harrisburg.<br><br>Other survivors include 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.<br><br><br>Services will be Saturday, November 21, 2015, at 10 a.m. in St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, 2848 St Albans Dr., Sinking Spring, PA 19608. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery, 225 E. Schuylkill Rd. Pottstown, PA 19465. A viewing will be held Friday November 20, 2015, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading, PA 19611. Friends may also call one hour prior to the service in the church.
