Bryan Alva Goodwin, Jr., 83, of Powdersville, and husband of Lodene Elmore Goodwin, passed away at his home on Tuesday, January 21, 2025.
Born on April 27, 1941, on a farm in Laurens, SC, Alva was the son of the late Bryan Alva and Mattie Anderson Goodwin. Leaving Laurens, Alva moved to the Greenville area where he became involved with home building. After several years, he and his family settled in Powdersville, SC where he became a custom homebuilder, land developer, and was a grading contractor until his retirement.
Alva was known for his kindness, humor, generosity, and infectious laughter and smile. He loved golf and was a member of Southern Oaks Golf Course where he enjoyed many hours of camaraderie with his friends.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Greenville and the Agape Sunday school class.
In addition to his wife Lodene Elmore Goodwin, he is survived by his son Bryan (Sheila); granddaughters Mattie Claire and Millie Kate Goodwin all of Powdersville SC; sister Martha G. Wilson of Lynchburg, Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at Bellview Baptist Church Cemetery, Laurens, SC, conducted by Pastor Benji Merritt. The family will receive friends at the cemetery immediately following the service.
