Sherri Sue Barton, a beacon of selfless love and kindness, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2025, in Highlands, Texas, at the age of 66. Born on August 13, 1958, in Valeda, Kansas, to the late Bill and Beverly Mersereau, Sherri's life was a testament to the simple joys and enduring bonds of family.
Sherri, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, is survived by her loving husband, Robert Barton. Together, they built a life full of laughter, love, and cherished memories. She was the proud mother of Denise Valentine, Heather Onnen and her husband Donnie, Jena Barton, Chelsea Barton, Kylie Butler and her husband Daryl, Zachary Barton, Stevie Barton, Caitlin McClelland and her husband Daniel; and the doting grandmother to numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were the light of her life. Sherri also leaves behind her brothers, Mack and Billy Mersereau, along with a host of extended family members and friends who were blessed to know her.
Sherri dedicated many years of her life to the trucking industry, where she was known for her work ethic and the camaraderie she shared with her colleagues. Her commitment to her profession was paralleled only by her devotion to her family and the community she built around her.
An avid fisher, Sherri found solace and joy in the tranquility of nature. Her hands were rarely still, as she poured her creativity into crafts that often became treasured gifts for those she loved. Sherri's appreciation for the simple life was evident in the way she cherished every moment, always finding beauty in the mundane and teaching those around her to do the same.
Those who knew Sherri will remember her for her loving nature and her kind spirit. She had a way of making each person feel uniquely special and valued, a gift that endeared her to many. Services to celebrate Sherri's life will be at Juncture Church on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. She will be laid to rest privately with her family at Mount Hope Cemetery in Independence, Kansas.
