Toulon – James “Jim” Barry Howell was born February 7, 1942 to Barbara Eulene (Routt) Howell and Raymond Howell. He died peacefully on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at 7:00 a.m. at his home surrounded by family. James was born at Kewanee Hospital and was a resident of West Jersey, Wyoming and Toulon. He graduated from Wyoming High School. He was married to Connie (Dison) Howell for 55 years. He is survived by his wife, Connie of Toulon; his daughters, Lisa Orwig of Davenport Iowa, Lori (Mark) Howell of Chicago, Illinois, Jenny (Tomohiro) Howell of Indianapolis, Indiana and Jamie (Lee) Newberry of Milan, Illinois. He is also survived his brother, Donald (Claire) Howell and his sister, Donna (David) Campbell; 13 grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; step mother, Alta Jean Howell; two brothers, Randy and Ron, and a grandson, Dustin. James worked for 30 years at the Tech Center at the Mossville Caterpillar Plant. He was a part time farmer and loved animals. He worked as an election judge in Stark County for many years. He was a member of the Toulon United Methodist Church, serving on various boards throughout the years. As a young man, he served in the Army National Guard in Kewanee, Illinois. He was a loving and devoted husband, a caring and fun loving dad and sweet grandfather. James enjoyed dancing, walking with his dogs, and was an avid Cardinals fan. James’ funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 16, 2018 at the Toulon United Methodist Church. Rev. Sidney Davis, Jr. will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, also at the church. Burial will be in Stringtown Cemetery with military honors. Haskell-Hott Funeral Homes in Toulon is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the MSW Projects or the Toulon United Methodist Church.
