Robert A. Bouwman

Robert “Bob” A. Bouwman, 69, of Branchburg, NJ, passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2025. Born in St. Paul, MN, he resided in New Providence before moving to Branchburg 42 years ago.

Bob received his Bachelor’s Degree from Kean University and worked at Roberts Tool & Supply Co for 40 years.

Bob served as the Mayor of Branchburg for two years and served on the Branchburg Township Committee for nine years. He was also a member of the Branchburg Historic Preservation Commission and Somerset County Cultural and Heritage Commission. He spent many weekends preserving the historical landmark Ten Eyck House in Branchburg.

As a founding member of the Branchburg Country Fair, Bob worked tirelessly to bring the fair to the Branchburg community for over twenty-five years.

During his free time, Bob enjoyed spending time down the Jersey Shore, giving back to the community, and woodworking. Most importantly, he enjoyed spending quality time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Mary and Bert Bouwman.

Surviving are his loving wife Rita Bouwman of 45 years, two cherished daughters, Jennie Bouwman of Brooklyn, NY; Beth and wife Michelle Bouwman of Somerville, NJ; and two adored grandchildren, Alice and Owen. He is also survived by his sister, Patricia Keyser, of New Providence, NJ.

A celebration of life will be held on Monday, January 20, 2025 from 2-4 pm at the Branchburg Funeral Home, 910 Rt. 202 South, Branchburg, NJ 08876. Committal is private.
