Alvin "Whoopie" Reed, age 68, entered eternal rest on Monday, December 30, 2024. Beloved husband of Jean Dase Reed. Son of the late Harvey, Jr. and Alice Reed. Father of Alisen Reed and Shawn Collins (Keisha). Proud grandfather of three and great-grandfather of one. Brother of Harvey, III and Terrance Reed, Sr., the late Sylvia Barbarin, Gerald Sr., Larry, Darrell and Kent Reed. Also survived by a host of loving Godchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A proud alumnus of St. Augustine High School and Southern Illinois University, Alvin had a deep love for his alma maters. He was also a cherished member of the Zulu Social Aid and Pleasure Club and enjoyed a fulfilling career in the hospitality industry, where he left a lasting positive impact on everyone he encountered. Relatives, friends and all whose lives Alvin touched, are invited to attend the funeral. A Celebration service honoring the life and legacy of the late Alvin "Whoopie" Reed will be held at Franklin Avenue Baptist Church, 8282 I-10 Service Road,New Orleans, LA, 70127 on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at 10 am, Pastor Fred Luter, Jr., Officiating. Interment private. Visitation 9 am in the church. Livestream will be available at www.franklinabc.com. A repast will follow at the church.
