Bernard C. Payne, age 73 of Hamburg, passed away on Saturday, January 11th, 2025 surrounded by his wife and daughers, at the Newton Medical Center.

Born in Passaic to the late Ben and Gladys (Dudley) Capone, Bernard grew up in Paterson and lived in the Lake Wanda section of Highland Lakes, before settling in Hamburg ten years ago.

Bernard was employed by Clarkwood Corporation in Totowa as a pressman until their closing. Prior to his retirement he worked as an expert at the Pro Desk at Home Depot of Riverdale. He enjoyed being on his computer and was especially proud of his Facebook page, Remembering Paterson.

Predeceased by his parents, and beloved granddaughter, Katelynn Campbell. Bernard is survived by his loving wife, Sandra (Johnstone) Payne; daughters Stacy Schwind and her husband Larry, Melissa Behnke and her husband Adam. He is also survived by his two grandchildren: grandson John (former USMC) and his wife Lindsay, and granddaughter Allyson Horianopoulos. As well as Larry’s two sons Reno (former USMC) and Kyle Schwind.
