Freddie is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Nancy Paul Currie; his children, Tracy Currie Emanuel (Kenny) and Christopher Ryan Currie: his grandchildren, Brayden Emanuel and Skylar Church (Max): step grandson, Kenny Kirk Emanuel, his great-grandson, Hudson Church; his identical twin brother, William “Teddy” Currie; sister-in-law, Pam Lewis (Robert), brother-in-law, James Paul; special niece, Diana Chavis; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and one great-great niece. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mae Ackerman Currie; his father, William Pate Currie; and his sister, Judy Currie Everette.
Freddie’s legacy is marked by a lifetime of dedication and service. He graduated from Laurinburg High School in 1966 and went on to earn his degree from Pembroke State University. His professional journey was just as impactful, starting work at the early age of 14 at Laurinburg Department Store, becoming part-owner and later the sole owner before transitioning into a long and successful career as a purchasing agent with Willamette Industries as its successors, where he retired after 25+ years of service.
Freddie enjoyed Friday nights under the Fighting Scots’ lights with his brother, Teddy, and the occasional Duke football game during the fall season. He and his wife, Nancy, loved spur-of-the moment trips to small-town restaurants on the weekends. Above all, he cherished spending time with his children and grandchildren.
A service to celebrate his life will be held 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 15th at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel with burial following in Hillside Memorial Park. Visitation will be prior to services on Wednesday, beginning at 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Scotland Regional Hospice, Post Office Box 1033, Laurinburg, NC 28353.
Freddie will be forever remembered in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were blessed to know him. May he rest in eternal peace.
