William Lawrence Leill Obituary

On the banks of the Wabash River and during the Great Depression, one would have found the

great town of Peru, Indiana. As a 12-year-old, Billy and his group played in happiness.

Impacted by World War II, Bill would later leave Ball State University to serve during the Korean

War in Puerto Rico. Being an Air Force control tower operator would later lead him to own

Beechcraft Bonanzas and Cessna 210s. Finishing school, he meets his love Susan Rae Leill -- his

supervisor at the hospital. After graduating from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine,

they leave for Lansing, Michigan with their two kids Douglas Allen Leill and Pamela Carol Leill

(Mitch). Bill enjoyed everything Michigan had to offer -- "Go MSU!" Favorite was riding

Husqvarna motorcycles at their cottage on Bear Lake. No phones. Being a doctor was a

responsibility taken seriously and with care. Name in the phone book -- call anytime -- house

calls. Didn't charge patients who couldn't afford it. Retirement meant golf and day trips with

his wife from their twenty-nine years in Laingsburg, Michigan. Married 64 fulfilled years. "Best

thing I ever did was marrying Sue. I'd do it all over again."
