Wanda Louise Barger Bogle, 72, of Salisbury, NC, passed away peacefully at home on January 10, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Born on May 10, 1952, to Tom and Edith Barger, the second of five daughters, Wanda grew up on her family’s farm outside of Salisbury, where she developed her lifelong values of helpfulness, quiet strength, and a love for the simple joys of life. She was forever proud to be a farmer’s daughter.
A 1970 graduate of West Rowan High School, Wanda began dating the love of her life, Donnie Bogle, when they were both only 15. They married on January 24, 1971. Together, they built a life full of love, partnership, and devotion.
Wanda and Donnie were blessed with three children: Pete Bogle (wife Katie), Jennifer Hunt (husband Hank), and Holli Bogle. Family was one of her greatest joys in life, especially getting to be “Granny” to Aiden and Cora Hunt, and Abby and Hannah Bogle.
A lifelong member of Salem Lutheran Church, Wanda was a living example of her Christian faith. She sang in the choir and was one of the first teachers at Salem’s Preschool, shaping young lives for over 10 years. Later, she continued serving smiles as a cafeteria worker for Rowan-Salisbury Schools, mostly at West Rowan High School.
In her quiet ways, she touched many, served well, and was the absolute perfect companion to Donnie. She always had a smile, was always ready to encourage others, and had a wonderfully cheesy sense of humor. Wanda leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and quiet strength. She will be dearly missed but forever remembered.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the doctors and staff at Novant Health Wallace Cancer Institute and to Hospice of Davidson County for their compassionate care and guidance.
A celebration of Wanda’s life will be held on January 15th, 2025 at Salem Lutheran Church, with visitation beginning at 1:00 and the funeral service following at 3:00. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations or memorials be made to the Salem Lutheran Church Improvements Fund or to Hospice of Davidson County.
