Nana Kofi Budukuma Obituary

Introduction

There is no question that Mr. Fiifi Brookman was a very passionate person who cared about the welfare and development of people around him. He was a very optimistic person, hardworking and a great inspiration to many. In the face of adversity, Fiifi stood tall, his determination unwavering, his resolve unyielding. He left behind a legacy of love and devotion to family and friends.

Early Years

Mr. Fiifi Brookman, who preferred to be called by his traditional name “Nana Kofi Budukuma”, was born on 14th July 1962 in Sekondi, in the Western Region of Ghana. His parents were Mr. Benjamin Kojo Brookman and Mrs. Agnes Alice Enchill-Brookman, both of blessed memory. He was the fourth of six children.

“Fiifi” as he was popularly called, started his primary school education at Sekondi Experimental School and continued at King of Kings International School in Accra following the transfer and relocation of his father to the city. He sat his Common Entrance examination at King of Kings International School and gained admission to Adisadel College in Cape Coast in 1975 where he did his General Certificate of Education (GCE) ‘O’ levels. He was a proud Santaclusian! He then continued to Accra High School for his ‘A’ levels.

Nana Budukuma’s passions were many and varied. He was an avid sports fan, with a particular love for football and karate. He also possessed a keen entrepreneurial spirit, always seeking new opportunities and ventures.

Entrepreneurship

Many who were familiar with Nana Kofi Budukuma would know him as a keen entrepreneur. That journey began in 1993 when he set up A Cum B Ltd., in Accra and provided travel and tour services to clients. The company was thriving until some unscrupulous and disloyal staff stole from him and bolted with a lot of his business capital. The incident, unfortunately, created a big dent in Nana Budukuma’s finances.

The setback did not deter him but rather motivated him to establish Pfibruxx Investment, an agriculture investment company in 1997 which included a seafood wing that exported shrimps and lobsters among others from Ghana to foreign countries.

Married Life

Fiifi met his wife, Mrs. Afia Sarpong Brookman through a mutual friend. They married in 1998 and were blessed with two children, Nana Akua and Araba. Fiifi and Afia remained a loving couple until his passing.

Nana Budukuma cherished education and ensured his children, nephews and nieces had the best education. To him no legacy was more important than to have his children and people close to him, well-educated. He, therefore, sacrificed a great deal to make this happen.

Relocation Abroad

Nana Budukuma’s hardworking and focused nature enabled him to travel outside of Ghana. He went to Holland initially and eventually settled in the U.S.A.

On arrival in the U.S.A., Nana Budukuma learnt quickly that the medical field was a good and profitable area to work in so he duly studied and qualified with a BSc degree in nursing. Calculatedly, he pursued other short courses in the nursing field along with digital marketing courses. With the acquired knowledge and expertise, Nana Budukuma established Spadixx Ltd in 2013. The company had two arms – a home care agency and food processing. Fiifi had almost completed the infrastructure for the food processing arm of his company when unfortunately, he met his untimely death.

Call to Eternity

On Friday, 13th December 2024, Nana Budukuma left home for work as usual, oblivious of the tragic circumstances that laid ahead. Indeed, he arrived safely at work and within two hours he suffered a cardiac arrest. He was rushed to the hospital but sadly, he passed away.

Nana Budukuma’s sudden departure has sent shock waves to all who knew him. He may be gone but his legacy will live on forever. He will never be forgotten.

As 2 Timothy 4:7 says, you have fought the good fight, you have finished the race. Nana Budukuma, it’s now time to rest in eternal peace and so may the angels of the Lord, who excel in strength, lead your soul to rest peacefully in the Lord’s bosom till we all meet again.
