Victor L Schafer
Victor ‘Vic’ Lee Schafer, 74, of Springfield, passed away November 4, 2018, at Oakwood Village after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born September 22, 1944, in Springfield, OH, and graduated from Springfield North High School. He served honorably in the U. S. Army National Guard, 4th PLT. B Co. 13th BN. 4th BRIG. Vic was a loyal employee of International Harvester for 51 years. Beyond his many co-workers and friends who will sorely miss him and his sense of humor. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Patricia ‘Pat’ (Tirey) Schafer of 51 years, his sons: Greg A. (Tina) Schafer and Mark A. Schafer; granddaughters: Sumer, Hannah and Lia Schafer; and sister-in-law, Donna Tirey. Also missing him are nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, J. Allen and Madell Schafer, his brother Curtis, his Aunts: Verda Synder and Jean Teach; and many cousins. Vic was an avid gardener, photographer and collector of International Harvester memorabilia including bricks from the old plant. He especially enjoyed time with his three granddaughters and his dog “Casey.” Vic always had a joke for everyone…any day! His memberships include: UAA & AI Workers of America, UAW Local 402; Grand Lodge F. & A. M., Anthony Lodge No. 455, Craftsman; Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite EMA, The Valley of Dayton; and Ohio Wander Freunde, a Volkssport Walking Club. A gathering of family and friends will be Friday, November 9th, from 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME with funeral services following at 11:00 a.m. with Chaplin Rebekah Lorain officiating. A Masonic Service will be included. Burial will follow the at Rose Hill Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests Memorials in Vic’s name to the American Cancer Society, 5555 Frantz Rd., Dublin, OH 43017 or the Humane Society of Clark Co., Animal Shelter, 5201 Urbana Rd., Springfield, OH 45502.September 22, 1944 - November 4, 201809/22/194411/04/2018
