Josephine Lorraine Brown, 83, of Clairton, was born August 18, 1941, in McKeesport, PA. She was the beloved daughter of the late James L. King Jr. and Florence Dunson-King.  

Josephine, lovingly known as Chin, later moved to Clairton where she lovingly raised her five sons. After retiring from Burrell Mines, she devoted herself to her family and friends, becoming a cornerstone of support and care. 

A source of strength and guidance, she was a cherished matriarch and beacon of love for her family. She had ten siblings, Calvin King, James (Chink) King, Vernal King, Ruby Roberts, Dorothy Clifford, Anna Sumpter, Florence Terry, Fayette Coleman, Valorie Harris, and Doris Nash.

Chin was a beloved member of Mt. Olive First Baptist Church, where she was a member of the kitchen ministry.  Chin was known for her warmth, wisdom, and generosity. She found joy in hosting family cookouts, playing cards with friends and spending evenings relaxing with her loyal dog, Bones. Always the caregiver, Chin’s kitchen was a haven, where she prepared meals not just for her family but for friends and the community alike. 

Josephine departed this life on December 13, 2024, at her home peacefully in Clairton, PA.  She was preceded in death by her father, mother, and ten siblings.   

Her memory, love, and legacy will live on in the hearts of her five sons, Kevin Brown, Jamie Brown, Michael (Stacie) Brown, Floyd (Alina) Brown, Leonard Brown; 28 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grand; many nieces, nephews, host of cousins and friends.
