Bruce Hunter Obituary

John Bruce Hunter, known to friends and family as Bruce, embarked on his final journey on December 13, 2024, after a valiant battle with illness. Born on April 26, 1949, in the heart of Canada, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Bruce's spirit and laughter left a lasting impression that will forever echo in the hearts of those he touched.

Bruce's life was a testament to his work ethic and commitment. For over three decades, Bruce was a dedicated employee at CN Rail, where he worked across Northern Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta. His colleagues knew him as the man who could bring a smile to anyone's face, even on a Monday morning.

He was the loving husband of Theresa Doolittle and a proud father to sons Daryl and Jason. His blended family also included stepsons Shane (Kylah) and Scott (Jessica), stepdaughter Sabrina, and a troupe of grandkids—Emra, Dailana, Hailie, Grace, Kayden, Kaleb, and Tanner. He is survived by his brothers Brian (Judi), Blair (Darlene) and Brad (Michelle)and sister-in-law Arlene.

In his free time, Bruce was a connoisseur of the simple pleasures in life. A devotee of the discerning Judge Judy, Bruce found solace in the pursuit of justice from the comfort of his abode. He traversed distant lands, yet always returned to the sanctuary of his cherished workshop and mancave. The younger grandkids could always count on him to provide a peanut butter sandwich served up in morning after a sleepover before "baba finally got up.

Bruce's workshop was the hub of entertainment for his friends and family. He enjoyed hosting family dinners, where the only thing better than the food was the company and the stories that would unfold. With a beard as long and straight as the path of virtue, he wore his pride upon his chin, a symbol of his steadfast character. A lover of fast cars, he knew life was about the ride and not just the destination.

Bruce's life was a journey filled with laughter, love, and a generosity of spirit that will be sorely missed. As we say goodbye to Bruce, we take comfort in knowing that his legacy will live on through the countless stories and memories he leaves behind. Bruce may have left the stage, but the laughter will continue in his honor, as he would have wanted nothing more. Rest in peace, Bruce; the world is a little less bright without your spark.

A special thank you to Dr. Fernando, his physician, the paramedics, emergency staff at Sturgeon Hospital and the incredibly compassionate staff at MAID.

Memorial donations can be made to The Salvation Army in St.Albert.
