It is with deep sadness that the family of Raymond Howard Niles announces his passing on December 13, 2024 at the age of 68. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by those who loved him, and will be forever missed by all who knew him.

Ray was born on December 23, 1955 in Northampton, MA to Raymond and Grace (Barks) Niles. He was a proud veteran of the United States Coast Guard, having served with honor and dedication. His military service was an important chapter of his life, and he carried the values of duty and pride with him always.
Ray was known for his love of simple pleasures—especially his daily cup of Dunkin' iced coffee and his fondness for scratch-off lottery tickets and keno. He spent countless hours by the water, fishing rod in hand and a story to share, striking up a conversation with anyone who’d listen. Above all, he loved his family, and his loyalty, humor, and warmth will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He is preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Grace (Barks) Niles and his brother John Niles. He is survived by his loving wife, Anne Niles; his daughters, Sara (Niles) Mitkowski and her children, Gillian, Everett, Mabel, and Sadie Mitkowski, and Rachel Niles and her children, David Spencer Jr., Rose Spencer, and Jenna Niles. He is also survived by his dear sisters, Patricia Chalifour and Kathryn LaRose, along with nieces and nephews who will always hold him close in their hearts.

A committal service with honors will be held on Monday, December 23, at 10:30 AM at the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery located in Exeter, RI. Family and friends are invited to attend and pay their respects.
