Mark W. Haney, 67, a resident of the Forest Grove community, died Friday evening, December 13, 2024, at the Jennings McCall II Assisted Living Center in Forest Grove.
Private Cremation Rites will be held at the Hoyt Crematory in Forest Grove. Private Interment will follow at the Mt. View Memorial Gardens, 499 Watercrest Road in Forest Grove.
MARK WAYNE HANEY was born January 30, 1957, in Concordia, Kansas, the son of the late Herbert Leon Haney and Deloris Ruth (Harms) Haney. He was raised and received his education in the communities of Bellville, Osborne and Ellis, Kansas; Norman, Oklahoma; Montrose, Colorado; Pickstown, South Dakota and Fessenden, North Dakota, until the age of fifteen years old, when he moved with his family to the Forest Grove community. Mark was a graduate of the Forest Grove High School Class of 1975.
He joined the United States Air Force on August 15, 1975, in Portland, Oregon. Mark served for four years, five months, until receiving his discharge on January 14, 1980, in Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska, at the rank of Sgt.
On May 21, 1980, Mark joined the United States Navy in Phoenix, Arizona. He served for three years, eleven months, until receiving his honorable discharge on December 16, 1983 at the rank of E-5. Mark had received the Sea Service Ribbon with One Bronze Star.
Mark was employed as an Inventory Management Specialist for the U.S. Department of the Army prior to his retirement in September of 2015.
Among his special interests, Mark enjoyed football, his favorite team being Arizona State University and his vast collection of western books and movies.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Deloris Haney.
Survivors include his two brothers and sisters-in-law, Morris and Jacquie Haney, of Clancy, Montana and Chris Haney and Patrice Mulkern, of Alexandria, Virginia.
Also surviving are his four nieces and a nephew and their spouses, Bobbi Jo and Micah Yarborough and their children, Jonas and Josephine, of Portland, Oregon; Jessica and Daren Cox and their children, Cooper and Parker, of Babcock Ranch, Florida and Taylor and Rob Smith and their son, Tanner, of Forest Grove, Oregon and Catherine and Jack Haney, of Alexandria, Virginia and many cousins.
