Richard Cornelius Roland Jr., 82, of Fredericksburg, Texas, passed away on December 13, 2024. He was born on August 26, 1942, in Abilene, Texas, and spent his formative years in La Feria, Texas, where he graduated from La Feria High School.

In 1964, Richard proudly joined the United States Air Force and was stationed at McGuire Air Force Base in New Jersey. After four years of dedicated service, he was honorably discharged in 1967. Following his military career, Richard worked as an inspector for the State of Texas until his retirement.

During his retirement years, Richard found joy in playing golf and saltwater fishing. He was a devoted member of First Baptist Church in Fredericksburg, where his faith played a meaningful role in his life.

On August 2, 2002, Richard married Martha J. Roland in Harlingen, Texas. Together they shared over two decades of love and companionship.

Richard was preceded in death by his father, Richard C. Roland Sr.; his mother, Joyce Gregory Brooks; and his stepmother, Doria Lamon.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Martha; his daughter, Cheri Broussard; stepdaughter, Brenda Perez; sister, Susan Francis; brothers, Greg Roland, Steve Roland, and Larry Roland; two grandchildren; and one step-grandson.

A celebration of Richard’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, 1407 E. Main St., Fredericksburg, TX 78624.

Richard’s legacy of service and love will be cherished by all who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to those who mourn his passing.
