Barbara Baker Hess, 75, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 13, 2024.  Barbara was born to Bob and Eileen Baker on April 12, 1949 in Shelby, Ohio,

After graduating from Shelby High School, she attended Bowling Green University where she studied Elementary Education.  Barbara worked for Lee County Schools for 7 years as an Instructional Assistant.  She also worked as a Senior Mortgage Loan Originator at Chase Manhattan Mortgage Corporation.  She retired from North Carolina Housing Finance Agency, where she served as Lead Quality Assurance Analyst.

Barbara was a dog lover.  She was especially proud of her Yorkshire Terrier, Honey, who she personally trained.  Honey participated in dog competitions and won many awards even being recognized as the best Yorkie in the country.

Barbara loved to play cards starting from a young age and enjoyed many afternoons doing that with friends from Lee County Enrichment Center.  She will be remembered as a fun, outgoing person who enjoyed life.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Robert E. and Martha E. Baker and son-in-law Chris McMillian.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Cherie Hess; three grandchildren Alyssa, Skyler and Kaycee; two great-grandsons Jeremiah and Zackariah.  Also surviving is her sister and brother-in-law Karen and Scott McClaran of Ashland, Ohio.

A Gathering of Family & Friends will be held Wednesday, January 15, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.
