Kenneth William Minehart, known affectionately as Ken or Kenny to his friends and family, embarked on his final adventure on December 13, 2024, at the age of 84.
Born on a sunny July 31st in 1940 in Wilkinsburg, PA, Ken's life was a vibrant tapestry woven with love, laughter and a dash of mischief.
Ken's journey began as a proud graduate of Upper Darby High School, where he was known for his quick wit and even quicker smile. He earned his Associates Degree from King's College. His academic achievements were only one small part of a life dedicated to service, marked by his time as a United States Navy veteran and a respected member of the Pennsylvania State Police. Ken's commitment to service to others wasn't just a profession - he was a longtime member of the Optimist Club in the Poconos, where he lived until his retirement from the State Police, and also in Myrtle Beach.
Madelyn, the love of Ken's life, was his partner in crime and in comedy. Together for 60 years, they raised two loving children who inherited their father's height and humor: Stephanie, their daughter, and Glenn, their son. He was also the proud grandfather to Kayla and Kyle, who inherited the twinkle in his eyes and his penchant for laughter.
In addition to spending time with his family, Ken was an avid golfer, a passion he discovered as a kid. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors and playing cards with friends.
Describing Ken as friendly, kind and funny is like saying the sky is big, the ocean is wet, and cookies are delicious - it's all true, but it doesn't quite capture the full picture.
As we bid farewell to Ken Minehart, we do so with a chuckle and a smile, for that's how he would have wanted it. His life was a masterclass in joy, his memory a collection of the best trivia and "dad" jokes, and his legacy a reminder to embrace every moment with a smile.
