Deborah Ann Shepherd

Deborah (Debbie) Ann Shepherd was called to her eternal home on December 13,2024. Debbie was a strong-willed, generous woman as well as an exemplary mother figure, embodying the best qualities of unconditional love, and strength of spirit.

Debbie was born December 28, 1949, in Detroit, Michigan to the late Bill and Margaret Shepherd, growing up in St. Clair Shores and Birmingham. She was the proud resident of Clawson for the last 31 years.

Starting her career at Michigan Bell in 1970, she moved up quickly to become Manager of Broadcast Services, a role she was extremely proud of. In this position, she was instrumental in getting many local events out to the public via radio and TV. Some of these events include the 1984 World Series, many Stanley Cup parades, Thanksgiving parades, 1992 Democratic debate, 1996 World Cup, and XL Super Bowl, with the 1987 Papel visit being her proudest. She told many a story about all these events over the years. She spent her retirement years devoting herself to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, attending sporting events, school functions, and having the "Gma Taxi" available whenever it was needed.

Survived by her daughter Kimberly (Jeff) Kukler, grandchildren Emily, Ben and Anna, and great -grandchildren Oliver and Harper, as well as many nieces, nephews, family and friends. The youngest of four children, she was preceded in death by her brother Robert (Kay) Shepherd, sister Pamela (Bob) Dona and leaves behind her brother Bruce (Janet) Shepherd.

In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations to be made to the Detroit Zoo.

Finally, the family wishes to thank the skilled, patient and compassionate nursing staff at “hotel” Beaumont in Royal Oak for their extraordinary care for Debbie in her final days.

A private family service will be held Thursday December 19, with a celebration of life next summer.
