Abbey Lauryn Berg, a beacon of light and love to all who knew her, passed away on December 13, 2024, in Woodbury, Minnesota. Born on December 1, 2000, in Bismarck, North Dakota, Abbey was the cherished daughter of Vicki (Stewart) Berg and Aaron Berg. Her vibrant spirit left a mark on the world in her brief 24 years.
Abbey’s life was a testament to her spirited and faith-filled nature. Her early years were shared with her siblings Matthew, Meghan, Chad, and Brayden. Abbey’s husband, Sang Han, cherished her for being the goofiest person he ever met, a quality that only deepened the love and laughter they shared. Despite the loss of her brother Matthew Berg and grandparents Kenneth Berg and Lenor Stewart, Abbey’s life was enriched by the unwavering support of her surviving family members.
Graduating from Cambridge-Isanti High School in 2019, Abbey’s high school days were filled with the harmonious melodies of band and choir, and the determined strides on the track field. Her commitment to serving others was evident in her decision to join the United States Air Force that same year. Abbey’s passion for helping those in need led her to pursue a nursing career. She was attending the Nursing Program at Bethel University, on track to graduate in the spring of 2025.
Abbey’s adventurous spirit took her across the globe, studying abroad at Korea University in South Korea, where she embraced new cultures and cuisines. Her work history was as diverse as her interests, from serving at a bible camp in Cooperstown, ND, to enduring basic training in San Antonio, TX and Fort Lee, VA. It was at Fort Lee where she met Sang Han and they would later marry December 21, 2020, in Elk River, MN, and shared a love that was as profound as it was playful. Her dedication to her country was exemplified through her deployment to Qatar in March of 2021, from which she returned home in October of the same year.
Upon moving to Woodbury in 2022, Abbey continued to serve her community as a nurse intern at Regions Hospital during the summer of 2024. Her commitment to her faith community remained strong as she actively participated in ROC at the First Baptist Church in Cambridge. Abbey loved to travel the world with Sang, both for military training and pleasure. Her love for working out, bowling, movies, karaoke, and making music by playing guitar and singing brought her joy. Abbey’s love for simple pleasures, like her favorite mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, and Korean cuisine, reflected her friendly and approachable nature.
Abbey is deeply missed by her loving family; husband Sang Han; parents Vicki Berg of Cambridge and Aaron Berg of Cambridge; sister, Meghan (Mike) Langley of East Bethel; brothers, Chad Berg of Park Rapids and Brayden (Jaime) Berg of Isanti; adoring nieces and nephew, Scarlett, Coralie, Vaeda, and Leland Langley; grandparents, Howard (Joyce) Stewart of Wilton, ND, and Karen Berg of West Fargo, ND; parents-in-law, Lindsey Jiyeon Kim and Sungsoo Han; brother-in-law, Sangmin Han; sister-in-law, Claire Han, all of Chicago; aunts, uncles, cousins and her two special dogs, Kimchi and Mandu. Abbey's legacy of love and kindness also lives on through the many other relatives and friends whose lives she touched.
Funeral Services 2PM, Friday, December 20, 2024 at First Baptist Church in Cambridge with Military Honors. Visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment in Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date.
