Ovide Maxime Boyer, affectionately known as "Max" to all who knew him, was born in December of 1930, in the small town of St. Louis, SK. He passed away peacefully at the age of 94 in his home in Regina, SK on Friday, December 13, 2024.
Max was a kind, hardworking, caring, and gentle man with a keen sense of duty. There was nothing he cherished more than spending time with his family, whether in Regina or Winnipeg. His passion for music brought joy to all who listened as he sang, played his guitar, or entertained with some good old-fashioned fiddling.
Max is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Pauline; son Darcy (Mary); daughter Judy (Joe); grandchildren Megan (Ryan), Ciara (Darren), Declan (Alison), Abigail (Lachlan), Cody; and great-grandchildren Finn, Mackenzie, Liam, and Noah.
Max and Pauline’s journey together began as newlyweds when they moved to Germany during Max’s time as a fresh recruit in the Armed Forces. Upon returning to Canada, they started their family. Darcy and Judy were born in Victoria, BC, and after a short period living in Kirkland Lake, ON, the family settled in Moose Jaw, SK.
At the age of 18, Max left St. Louis to work in the smelters in Trail, BC. By the age of 24, he joined the Armed Forces, dedicating himself to a full and honorable military career. Following his service, he embarked on another full career as a building serviceman with SaskTel. Max’s hardworking nature extended into his personal life, where he could often be found tending to his yard and garden in the summer or clearing snow from sidewalks, driveways, and rooftops in the winter. In 2016, Max and Pauline moved to a condominium, where they continued to enjoy their life together.
Max was immensely proud of his family and the life he built with Pauline. His legacy of love, music, and dedication will forever be remembered.
A Funeral Mass to honour Max’s life will take place at 11:15 a.m. on Friday, December 20, 2024 at Little Flower Parish, 420 College Ave., Regina, SK. For those unable to attend, a livestream may be viewed at https://youtube.com/live/SPj2AtCp51U. In lieu of flowers, donations to Special Olympics Canada would be greatly appreciated.
