Max H. Kirkpatrick, age 78, passed away on October 30, 2018, at UT Medical Center in Knoxville. He was an elder of New Prospect Presbyterian Church. He graduated from South High, and graduated from the US Naval Academy at Annapolis with honors. Max proudly served in the US Navy submarine force for 17 years. He was a Nuclear Engineer and most recently worked for TVA. Max was preceded in death by his first wife, Wanda; parents, Herschel Milton and Ruth Kirkpatrick; brother, Jack Kirkpatrick; sister, Emily Jackson and son, Kenneth Kirkpatrick He is survived by his wife, Peggy; sons, Kevin Kirkpatrick and wife, Beth of Maryville, Jonathan Kirkpatrick of Haiti, David Kirkpatrick and wife, Jennifer of Knoxville; daughter Ivy Bungori of Chester MA, granddaughters, Rita, Amber and Brittany, and step-grandchildren, Brandon, Mandy, Sara, Christian, and Matt. Receiving of friends will be Sunday, Nov. 4th 4pm to 5:30 pm at New Prospect Presbyterian Church, with service starting at 5:30 PM. Graveside service will be held 2pm Tuesday at East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, 2200 E Gov John Sevier Hwy, with full military honors conferred by East Tennessee Veterans Honor Guard and the US Navy. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
