Sarah Carman-Padgett

Sarah Carman-Padgett passed away peacefully and surrounded by her family on December 13, 2024, in Germantown, MD, at the age of 88. Born on June 15, 1936, in the Bronx, NY, Sarah's journey through life was marked by her unwavering faith, her boundless creativity, and her devotion to her family and friends.

Sarah's early years in New York were shared with her loving family, including her late mother and stepfather, Losha "Susie" Schwartz and Mike "Pop" Schwartz, siblings and their families Joseph M. Duncan, Irene Marr (née Duncan), Russell E. Duncan, Ray T. Duncan, Robert W. Duncan, Mark A. Duncan, and her surviving sister Shirley Patricia Storm (née Duncan). She is also survived by her husband Charles Padgett and her children Tom Carman, DVM (Stephanie), Rick Carman (Pamela), and Missy Carman; two granddaughters Alyssa and Lauren Carman, and multiple nieces and nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews, and many in-laws and friends who will all forever cherish memories of Sarah.

Sarah demonstrated her resilience and dedication by returning to the workforce after raising her children. Her career spanned various roles in the marketing, legal, and real estate industries where her professionalism and work ethic left a lasting impact on her colleagues and those she served.

Sarah's passion for music was evident to all who knew her. With a beautiful soprano voice, she was a cherished member of her church choirs throughout the years, where she sang with joy and devotion. Crafting was another of Sarah's talents that she shared generously. Her hands were rarely still, as she created beautiful flower arrangements for her church, and meticulously crafted holiday ornaments, wreaths, and gifts that became treasured keepsakes.

As we remember Sarah, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and grace. She was a pillar of her community, a loving mother, and a faithful servant. Her legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched with her kindness, her laughter, and her unwavering spirit.

We bid farewell to Sarah Carman-Padgett, a remarkable woman whose life was a true embodiment of love, courage, and faith. Her journey on earth has concluded, but the harmony of her spirit will echo eternally in the lives of all who were blessed to know her.

A celebration of life service will take place in the spring of 2025 at St. James’ Episcopal Church in Potomac, MD details of which will be determined and announced at a later date.
