Raymond E. Horner Obituary

Raymond E. Horner, 86, of Johnstown, died December 13, 2024 at Windber Hospice. He was born August 10, 1938 in Elton, PA, son of William C. and Betty (Wilkie) Horner.

Preceded in death by his parents; brother, Clarence; nephew, Clarence Jr.; former wife, Martha Horner; niece, Barbara; and sisters in law, Bessie, JoAnn, and Esther.

Survived by his brothers, William D. and Richard S.; his nieces and nephews: William G (Judith), Amy (Wayne Munoz), Leona, Lelia, Lee, Lynne, Walt, and Richard; his stepchildren, Tammy Gennett (John) and Sherry Horton; his step grandchildren, Lexy, Hunter, and Hayden; his numerous great nieces and nephews; and many friends, including Al Becker.

Ray graduated Johnstown High in 1957. He proudly served his country in the Army from 1959-1962, stationed in Germany. He was employed by Republic Steel and retired from the metallurgical department at Bethlehem Steel after 36 years. His was a member of the American Legion in Richland. He enjoyed throwing darts and going to the gym at the YMCA. He was an active member of West Hills Community Church. Raymond's faith was his cornerstone.

Friends will be received 11-12 Thursday December 19, 2024 at West Hills Community Church, 175 Woodmont Road, Johnstown, PA 15905. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM. Entombment Grandview Mausoleum. A military ritual will be conducted by VFW Post 155.
