Carolyn Lewis Copeland, 86, went to be with the Lord in Heaven on December 13, 2024.

Carolyn was a fifteenth generation Virginian who lived in Virginia for most of 86 years with the exception of living abroad in Naples, Italy and Albuquerque, New Mexico. She was a lifelong worker never taking a penny that she did not earn.

She was predeceased by her husband of 42 years John Randolph Copeland, her mother and father Linwood Armistead and Lucy Pearl Hammack Lewis, her three brothers Wallace, Linwood and Gilliam, and five sisters, Mary, Elvin, Virginia, Jacqueline, and Thelma. She is survived by her sister Rayzelle Meredith, her three sons John (Beverly), Hahns (Tracey) and Brett, four grandchildren Darden (Jordan), Isaac, Andrew, and Jack, a host of nieces and nephews and three grand dogs Ceana, Snoopy and Sydney. She loved her family and her family loved her.

Carolyn was born in Dinwiddie County and came to Virginia Beach in 1958 to live where she met her husband of 42 years, John. Carolyn attended Longwood College from 1956 to 1958. She was a substitute school teacher, a church secretary, a bookkeeper, a real estate agent, a skilled home economics engineer and best of all, a kind and generous mother and grandmother. Carolyn was a life long Episcopalian and spiritually supercharged as a Christian by her love of doing well, living well and being a good person to all she met.

A memorial service will be held at Old Donation Episcopal Church 4449 North Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23455 on Monday, December 30, 2024 at 1:00 PM. A reception will follow.
