Memorial Service for Jerral Wayne Spradlin, 89, of Grandfield, OK will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at the First Baptist Church of Grandfield with Rev. Chester King, officiating. He passed away Friday, December 13, 2024 in Wichita Falls Texas.
Services are under the direction of Gray Funeral Home in Grandfield, OK.
Wayne was born April 14, 1935 in Loveland, OK to Joe Bailey and Ima Mae (Green) Spradlin. He graduated in 1953 from Loveland High School. Wayne's family moved to Grandfield in 1953. He married Marilyn Ruth (Marshall) Spradlin June 21, 1953 in Loveland, OK. He later received a Bachelor of Arts Degree. Wayne worked for 31 years as an electronics instructor for the US Air Force Civil Service. He loved to attend sporting events for his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Wayne did substitute teaching for many years. He was a leader in the Grandfield community his whole life. Wayne was a Boy Scout leader, worked with the Civil Defense, and drove the ambulance for many years. He was a retired Grandfield Volunteer Firefighter, coached the Lady Fire Balls basketball team, announced for the Wichita Falls Drillers, and was the VOICE of the Bearcat Football games for 49 years. Wayne was a Mason, where he held many offices including Worshipful Master, and was a Shriner. He was a member of the Grandfield First Baptist Church and attended the Calvary Baptist Church later in life.
Wayne is survived by his sons, Gary Wayne Spradlin of Wichita Falls, TX and Steven Greg Spradlin (Arlene) of Grandfield, OK, his daughters, Marla DeAnn Hagy of Wichita Falls, TX and Marsha Jan King (Duncan) of Grandfield, OK; his brothers Don Spradlin and Neil Spradlin of Grandfield, OK, his sister, Karen Josefy of Grandfield, 10 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and 8 great great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joe Bailey and Ima Mae (Green) Spradlin; his wife, Marilyn Spradlin; his brothers, Charles Spradlin, Ewell Spradlin, and Robert Spradlin; his sisters, Marie Hobbs and Sue Bentley; his great grandson, Bailey Montes; and his good friend, Leah Smith.
