Ronald L. Ketchum, known affectionately by friends and family as Ron, passed away suddenly on December 13, 2024, at the age of 72. Born on March 27, 1952 the son of Merton and Marie (Bennett) Ketchum, Ron's early life was set in a course of dedication and service.

Ron will be greatly missed by his companion and best friend Pam Hemenway, his son Chad (Connie) Ketchum, grandchildren Kaila (William) Lantry, Christa DiMarco, Jessica (Josh) Whitney, and Cassandra DiMarco, and his beloved great grandchildren Myles, Dexter, Aaron, Michaela, Bradley, Cole, and Stone.

He also leaves behind his siblings Larry (Donalyn) Ketchum, Rose (Michael Semel) Ketchum, and Joann (Mark) Peterson, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.

In addition to his parents, Ron was predeceased by his sister Janet.

Ron proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force, a period of his life that instilled him with a profound sense of duty and honor. After his military service, he channeled his disciplined work ethic into a successful career as a general contractor. Ron was not just skilled with his hands; he was an artist in his craft, with woodworking and building projects that showcased his skills and meticulous attention to detail. His expertise at raising houses in flood zones off their foundation was featured in a newspaper article “Above the Flood,” and is used by the U.S. government as guidelines for protecting historic buildings.

Beyond his professional life, Ron was a man with a passion for the open road. He found solace and joy in motorcycle trips, especially on the back roads that crisscrossed the landscapes he so loved. He was often accompanied by his favorite traveling companions, Chad and Pam. Ron is also notably remembered for driving his mother Marie to her 90th Birthday party on his motorcycle.

Those who knew Ron will recall his remarkable sense of humor. He was funny, often using his quick wit to bring smiles to those around him. His humor was a gift that he shared generously, making every encounter with him a joyous one. To know Ron was to know a true friend, he had the rare gift of making every individual feel like a close friend.
