Eleni “Nitsa” (Diamantopoulos) Vasilopoulos, 78, of Lynn, died Friday December 13, 2024 after a brief illness, surrounded by her loving family. Born in St. George Messolonghi Greece to the late Konstantinos and Ifigenia (Soufli) Diamantopoulos, Eleni was raised in Greece and moved to Lynn in her late teens. She was the beloved wife of 55 years of Spiros Vasilopoulos. She worked as a seamstress for many years and enjoyed sewing and gardening. Eleni loved cooking, especially for her grandchildren. She was a nurturer by heart and always took care of her family.
Eleni is survived by her husband Spiros, her son Christos Vasilopoulos and his fiancée Anne Dinatale of Bradford, MA, her daughter Daniella Vasilopoulos of Lynn, her three grandchildren who she was a devoted “Yia Yia” to; Spiros “CJ”, Nicholas, and Gianna Vasilopoulos, her brothers Vasili Diamantopoulos of Lynn, George Diamantopoulos and his wife Donna of Lynn, her sister Panayiota Gidaris of Lynn, as well as several cousins, nieces, nephews, godchildren, many special friends and her daily companion Ira her grand dog.
Visitation for Eleni will be held on Friday December 20, 2024 from 9:30-11AM at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 54 S Common St. Lynn, followed by funeral service at 11AM. Burial to follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. In lieu of flowers, donations in Eleni’s name may be made to My Brother’s Table at www.Mybrotherstable.org, as she always loved to feed people.
