MARSHALL, SUSAN, 73, of Coventry, formerly of Vermont, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 13, 2024 at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence. She was the loving wife of 53 years to John G. Marshall. 

Born in Newport, Rhode Island, Susan was the daughter of the late Edward and Agnes (Foster) Gorton.

A natural born caregiver, Susan attended The Newport Hospital School of Nursing where she graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1969. She worked at Mary Hitchock in New Hampshire for several years and then the White River Junction VA Medical Center in Vermont for 25 years where she was awarded ‘Nurse of the Year’ in 2009. 

When Susan was not working, she enjoyed being in nature. Whether walking on the Trestle Trail with her Boston Terrier Maisy (They were Inseparable),  hiking throughout New England, or on a McKenzie Drift Boat float trip, Susan was always making friends along the way. She found such delight bellowing out “Fish On” when she hooked up with a smallmouth or trout while floating with her husband John. Sue will miss her friends from the Trestle Trail, Horsy friends - and all her friends. Walking along the many Newport Beaches also was on her favorable list.  Susan possessed the effortless ability to make anyone she came across feel comfortable. She will truly be missed. Such a good person - one of a kind - truly special.

Besides her husband, John, Susan is survived by her beloved daughter, Melissa Pinz, and her adored granddaughters, Carmelina and Amanda Pinz, all of Coventry. Susan was the sister in law of George and Mike Marshall, who she loved dearly, both of Newport, RI.
