Carlyne May Stokesbary, 95, of Galesburg, Illinois, died at 8:50 a.m. Friday, December 13, 2024 at Goldwater Care, Roseville, Illinois.
Carlyne was born November 5, 1929 in Decatur, Illinois, the daughter of Richard A. and Edna May (Adams) Dwyer. Carlyne graduated from Wataga, Illinois High School and Illinois Central College. She married Robert L. Patch. Together they had seven children. She later married Ken Stokesbary.
Carlyne is survived by three sons, David E. (Beth) Patch of Pekin, Illinois, Richard A. (Julie) Patch of Galesburg, and B. Todd Patch of Galesburg; four daughters, S. Mardel Zich of North Carolina, Jennifer L. Valcik of Wiley, Texas, Elizabeth A. (Steve) Benbow of Galesburg, and Joan M. (Richard) Munson of Galesburg. She is also survived by seventeen grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren; and two on the way. Along with her parents, Carlyne was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Marry; and a brother, Earl Blakewell.
While raising her children, Carlyne worked as a realtor at Tucker Swanson Realty for many years and was a million-dollar seller for multiple years. She later worked in the cafeteria at Knox College. In her free time, Carlyne enjoyed ceramics, crocheting, and knitting. Most of all, Carlyne enjoyed being with her family and grandchildren.
Cremation will be accorded. No services are planned. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg. The family would like to thank OSF Hospice, especially Candi Harger for her care and support of Carlyne. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Knox County Humane Society.
