Elizabeth “Liz” Josephine (Schuh) Urtel, 43, of Oklee, MN, passed away on Friday, December 13, 2024 at her home.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2024 at 3:00 PM at the Cease Family Funeral Home in Blackduck with Rev. Luke Berntson officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Kelliher, MN at a later date.

Elizabeth was born on September 26, 1981 in Bemidji, MN, the daughter of John and June (Doty) Schuh. She was raised in Kelliher and attended school there, graduating in 2000 from Kelliher High School. She then attended Northwest Technical College in Bemidji graduating in 2002. Elizabeth was baptized and confirmed at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Kelliher and attended youth groups at the Community of Hope Nazarene Church in Brainerd, MN. She was also a member of the VFW Junior Girls, Post #470 in Kelliher. She lived in numerous places but settled down with her husband, Blaine in 2018. She married Blaine Paul Urtel in August, 2020 at their home in Oklee, MN. Elizabeth worked at many places but made most of her friends at RV Sports in Thief River Falls, MN. Liz enjoyed hunting, fishing, four-wheeling and loved her dogs, Molly & Snickers. She was a member of the Thief River Falls Archery Club and the Minnesota State Archery Association. Everyone remembers Liz by her infectious smile, warm hugs and her love for everyone she came in contact with.

Liz is survived by her loving husband, Blaine Urtel of Oklee, MN; siblings, Shelli (Randy) Krueth of Kelliher, MN, Mark (JoAnna) Doty of Blackduck, MN and James Schuh of Bemidji, MN; nieces and nephews, Teresa Etter, Trisha Krueth, Krystina (Derrick) Rice, Anthony (Kristi) Schuh, Kenny (Chloe) Schuh, Doug (Destany) Schuh, Derrick Schuh, Samantha (Jake) Doty and Benjamin (Samantha Jane) Doty; numerous great nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Marva Jean Anderson; and father-in-law, Fred Urtel.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John & June Schuh; sister, Kathleen; brother, Tony; and both maternal & paternal grandparents.
