It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kenneth Walter Rolf, 73, of Saginaw, a loving husband, dedicated father, and cherished friend. Born on July 24, 1951, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Henry and Florence Rolf. Kenneth left this world on Friday, December 13, 2024.
Kenneth, known affectionately to those who loved him as "Ken," had a spirit that was generous and gentle. He possessed a quirky sense of humor that could brighten any room and create bonds with those around him. A proud graduate of Parma Senior High School, he further pursued his education at Bowling Green State University. Kenneth earned a Bachelor's Degree that opened the door to a fulfilling career as an accountant in the sugar beet processing industry. For 40 years he lent his expertise to various facilities across Ohio, Colorado, Wyoming, and Michigan. He retired from Michigan Sugar in 2017.
Baseball was one of Ken's great loves. His childhood memories were filled with excitement as he attended Cleveland Indians games. Snuggling to sleep with a transistor radio under his pillow he would listen to the game commentary, dreaming of home runs and grand slams. He was a loyal fan of the Colorado Rockies and the Detroit Tigers, he enjoyed watching Lions and Broncos football, and Pistons basketball as well.
Kenneth's story truly flourished after meeting his beloved wife, Janet Rolf, on a blind date that would lead to a beautiful marriage on July 17, 1976. Together, they created a warm home filled with love, the centerpiece of which was their son, Matthew (Matt) Rolf. Kenneth was a devoted family man who treasured quality time with his loved ones.
Attending St. Mark Lutheran Church in Saginaw, Ken's community spirit shone through as he served as church treasurer in Colorado and Wyoming, and he delighted in the camaraderie of a church bowling league. An avid reader, he cherished court drama novels and spent countless hours playing word games and Yahtzee online, competing against friends around the globe. He also inherited the love of card games from his grandmothers, which brought him joy and laughter.
Kenneth Walter Rolf will be remembered for his loving nature, generous heart, and genuine passion for life. He touched the lives of everyone he met and will forever hold a special place in the hearts of his wife, Janet (Genzman) Rolf; Son, Matthew Henry Rolf; sister-in-law, Patricia Shaffer; nephews and nieces. Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Florence Rolf; his parents-in-law, Willard and Winifred Genzman; sister, Barbara Sims; and sister-in-law, Kathy Anderson.
