Tara Lashawn Reed affectionately known as “Shawn” answered the call from her Heavenly Father for her eternal rest on Friday, December 13, 2024.

Born March 12, 1979, to her lovely parents William and Carolyn Reavis. At an early age Tara accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at Greater Lovely Hill Baptist in Macon, North Carolina. Tara loved the Lord and made sure you knew it. On a daily she would share daily devotions, gospel songs, prayers, and spiritual quotes with family, and friends.

Tara attended grade school in the Warrenton County School System where she graduated from Warren County High School. There after Shawn relocated to Richmond, Virginia.

Tara met the love of her life, and married Larry P. Reed. They confessed their love for one another before God, family, and friends at Beulah Baptist Church in Richmond, Virginia. Spending glorious years together, Tara and Larry were blessed with their son, ZayKwon J. Reed. ZayKwon was the light of Tara’s world.

After working for various companies Tara decided to go back to school and further her education. She attended Bryant & Stratton College where she received her Associate’s Degree in Medical Administration. Once graduating she was employed by Home Care Delivered and CVS Health.

Tara was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. Tara’s kindness, unconditional love, bright smile, and gentle personality touched those that knew and loved her.

Tara was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Charlie Harris, and Estella Robinson; paternal grandparents David and Selma Reavis; one aunt; four uncles; one nephew.

In addition to her husband, son, and parents Tara leaves to cherish her memory one step son, Isaiah Reed; One brother, Henry Harris; Three sisters, Tonya (Elmer) Stokes, Shelia (Kenneth) Dudley, and Tonsha (Calan) Cooper; Six nieces, Diamond Reavis, Raven (Kendrick) Cheek, Solei Wright, Asia Dudley, Jannell (Cal) Williams, and Shaquanna Banks; Two nephews, Taymon Reavis and Javon Banks; One great niece and four great nephews; One aunt, Mary Watson; One uncle, Nelson Harris; Two great aunts, Mary Moyler, and Cindy Davis; One great uncle, Clint (Faye) Powell; Godmother, Bettie Davis; Mother-in-Law, Doris Reed; Sister-in-Law Janacis (Cornell) Banks.

Tara also leaves a host of cousins, extended family, and friends. Among them devoted cousin, Kirby Watson; devoted extended family Patrica Snead and Jennifer; and her loving fur baby “Greta.”


The family will hold a private memorial. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
