James Michael Taylor 76 of Arlington, Nebraska passed away Friday, December 13, 2026 at his home. He was born January 25, 1948 in Knoxville, Tennessee to Archie and Lucy (Bodenheimer) Taylor.
James grew up in Knoxville and graduated in 1966 from Rule High School in Knoxville. He then served in the U.S. Air Force from June 7,1966 to April 1, 1970. He was stationed at the Scribner, NE Air Base and then Offutt Air Force Base in Bellevue, NE. After his service he lived in Omaha for a year before moving to rural Arlington, NE 53 years ago. James married Carolyn Lallman July 11, 1970 at Fontanelle, NE. He worked at Hormel in Fremont until his retirement in January of 2013.
James was a member of Salem Lutheran Church of Fontanelle, NE and the American Legion Post #71 in Arlington. He enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, coin and baseball card collecting.
He was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law, Madelyn and August Lallman and brother-in-law, Kenneth Lallman.
James is survived by his wife Carolyn of Arlington; son Brian Taylor (Terri Haith) of Fremont; daughter, Michelle Taylor; brother, Fred Chitwood and sister, Pat (Roy) Scholvinck all of Fortson, Georgia; sisters-in-law, Darlene Lallman of Blair and Naomi Lallman of Carlsbad, New Mexico and 2 grandchildren.
Memorial Service will be 10:00 A.M., Friday December 20, 2024 at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Rev. Allison Siburg of Salem Lutheran Church of Fontanelle will officiate. A United States Flag presentation will follow the service.
Memorials are suggested to the Arlington or Nickerson Volunteer Fire Departments.
