Donald Eugene Schafer age 95 of Novi, Michigan passed away on Friday, December 13, 2024 at Trinity Health Hospital in Livonia, Michigan.

Donald was born on June 14, 1929. He was the son of Raymond and Bonnie Schafer. Donald was a veteran of the U.S. Army served during the Korean Conflict. He married Marilyn Wheeler on January 26, 1951 in Huntington Woods, Michigan. She preceded him in death on January 8, 2018 after 66 years of marriage.

Mr. Schafer retired from General Dynamics as a Mechanical Engineer with many years of service.

Donald was a very active person. He was an avid golfer, loved gardening, playing bridge, enjoyed cooking, and made great pickles.

Surviving are his children; Lori (Ken) Greco and Jon (Mary) Schafer, grandchildren; Kendall Greco (Dave Martin), Brenna (Phil) Garcia, and Brady Schafer (Alyssa Albaugh), Great-Grandchildren. Francesca Rose Garcia and Mac Eugene Schafer.

Visitation at the Sawyer-Fuller Funeral Home in Berkley, (two blocks west of Woodward Avenue), Thursday, December 19th from 4 to 8 pm. Funeral service Friday, December 20th 11 am at the Sawyer-Fuller Funeral Home. Burial immediately following the service at Roseland Park Cemetery in Berkley.
